Success Story: Alexis Weight Loss Journey after 50
Alexis is a 50-year old woman who often works 10 or more hour days. Her goals were to:
- Lose 15 pounds
- Fit better into her clothes
- Have more energy
- Feel better about herself
The problem was, she didn’t have the time or energy to figure out a plan that would help her meet these goals. She felt she needed a coach to help her and provide her with support.
Alexis ate many late dinners, and almost all of her meals were ordered in or eaten out with friends. She often skipped lunch and just grazed during the day. She also struggled a lot with sugar and carb cravings.
When we looked into it, it turned out she was consuming more calories than she had initially thought in snacks. Frequently she’d have wine at night to relax. Unfortunately, she often slept poorly and had minimal time or energy to exercise.
What We Did:
I reviewed her lifestyle in detail, and we started with small changes a few a time. We started by focusing on going to bed earlier and not skipping lunch. Then we moved onto planning high-protein snacks and cutting down on alcohol.
Next, we figured out some creative ways to schedule exercise into her calendar. I provided her with some detailed information on healthy takeout options, strategies for dining out, and dealing with social situations.
Over 3 months Alexis lost 15 pounds. She now feels more energetic, much-improved self-esteem, and fits into her clothes better!
Better yet, at no point did she feel deprived.
In fact, she was surprised at how easy it was to implement our simple tweaks. She told me that the changes have already become a part of her new lifestyle.
I especially love problem-solving, whether it’s helping women defeat issues plaguing them for years, helping a busy executive find practical ways to get heart healthy, or providing tips to help you reverse diabetes. That’s why I’m on a constant quest to expand my knowledge by staying on top of the latest research.
