My New Blog and Facebook Page on PCOS

PCOS_Header_2

As if I didn’t have enough to do, I decided to start another blog – this time on PCOS called PCOS Nutrition & Lifestyle Solutions blog. I have been specializing in this condition for the past 15 years and am passionate about helping women who have it. For those of you who don’t know what it is,  PCOS stands for polycystic ovary syndrome. It affects 10% of all women (and even up to 20%  depending on what criteria are used to diagnose it) and can have major hormonal and metabolic effects in the body, including increased risk of diabetes and heart disease. Please pass this blog on to any friends or family members who have PCOS or any of the symptoms associated with it. Watch my video below and read on to learn about my blog as well as my  facebook page – PCOS Nutritionist Martha McKittrick AND the live facebook chat I’m doing on Nutrition & Lifestyle Tips for Fertility in PCOS TONIGHT 4/25  on my fb page.

PCOS is a syndrome that can have a wide range of symptoms including irregular menstrual periods, trouble with hair growth or hair loss, weight gain or difficulty losing weight, acne, mood swings, sleep issues, carb cravings, depression, difficulties getting pregnant, increased rates of miscarriage, as well as increased risk of diabetes and heart disease. I’ve worked with hundreds (or thousands?) of women with PCOS and know all too well the unique concerns they experience as well as the difficulties they often experience getting diagnosed and treated. So many suffer in silence!

Insulin resistance plays a major role in PCOS. Newer research is showing that inflammation and gut health also likely play a role. My goal as a nutritionist is to help educate women (as well as the medical community) regarding a healthy diet and lifestyle to treat PCOS naturally.  Diet is a such a confusing issue for women with PCOS as the internet is full of conflicting info. So… I decided to a start my PCOS Nutrition & Lifestyle Solutions blog  and fb page PCOS Nutritionist Martha McKittrick

My goal for this blog is to provide you with nutrition and lifestyle tips that are practical and evidenced based (um.. when evidence exists … more research is needed on women with PCOS). I want to help you manage your symptoms of PCOS, mood, energy levels, weight, fertility and more. I decided to call this page PCOS Nutrition and Lifestyle because it’s not just about nutrition when it comes to treating PCOS naturally! Some of the areas I’ll be blogging about include PCOS friendly meals and snacks, eating out, sleep, exercise, foods for fertility, gut health, inflammation, research, supplements, insulin resistance,  stress and emotional health.

So please join me tonight at 7:30 pm EST for my live chat on Nutrition & Lifestyle Tips for Fertility in PCOS on my PCOS facebook page PCOS Nutritionist Martha McKittrick. It will be about 30-45 minutes. It’s my first live chat … yikes!  Please like my page when you are there (if you do like it!) If you miss the chat, you can  refer to the article on my blog on this topic.
