Top 18 Healthy Holiday Gift Ideas

healthy gift

Holidays are associated with food, parties, family get-togethers and …gifts. How many times have you received a gift of bad chocolates or something that will turn into a “re-gift”? You would have much preferred something that would fit into your healthy lifestyle. Or maybe you want to give your spouse a holiday gift that will inspire healthful habits but need help with ideas.  Or perhaps you just want to buy  yourself a little gift! Well, I gathered ideas for some of my favorite healthy holiday gifts. Some are little gifts for a stocking stuffer whereas others are heavier on the wallet. Some may be kind of silly gifts but they caught my eye. Get ready to shop or add these ideas to your wish list!  I actually think I’m going to be buying a few of them.

Oil Mister
   $8-$15
If you are looking to lose a few pounds but LOVE olive oil, this gift is a good one for you.  Now instead of pouring the oil onto your salad or into the pan when cooking, you can mist it on. This would also be a good gift to give your hubbie if he has a heavy hand with the oil!  (While olive oil is super healthy, one tablespoon has 120 calories

Fruit-infusion Water Pitcher

$19.99
Who drinks enough water? I bet most of you don’t! I’m always hearing my clients say “it’s boring”. Instead of turning to diet drinks, try this fruit infused water. Add your favorite fruit and you have a refreshing beverage calorie and chemical free!   (This idea was taken from greatlist)

Jumprope
 $12.95-$23.95  and Resistance Bands  $7-$10
These are great gifts for people who are on the road a lot. Stick your jumprope and bands in your bag and you can get in a quick workout almost anywhere. You can even keep bands in your office and get in a quick workout in between phone calls.

Trudeau Silicone Single Egg Poacher: $9.96
This microwaveable egg poacher allows you to prepare a healthy and quick-cooked egg during your morning breakfast rush. Now no excuse for not adding protein to your breakfast! (idea from Dawn again – her favorites eggs are organic, omega-3 eggs. The hens are fed organic feed and flaxseeds)

Teen Eating Manifesto book
$16.95
This is a book on healthy eating by one of my colleagues, Lisa Stollman, RD. This is a great gift if you have a teen in your life. Good habits should be started at a young age. This book takes a “non-diet” approach and is full of practical tips.

Non-Stick Baking M
at  $21.96
I don’t bake (or even cook that much …) but I found this interesting. The times I do cook the food often gets stuck to the pan which lessens my desire to cook even more. It will help you cut down on added fat and make clean up a cinch!

Salad Chopper  $7.99
If you love chopped salads, but are don’t have the time to chop them , this gift is for you!  You can even chop it right in the bowl so you don’t have to dirty your cutting board. (Idea from greatlist)

George Forman Grill and Cookbook  $52.86

Good ol’ George is still around. I’m a huge fan of these grills, especially for us NYC peeps who live in miniature spaces. We don’t have outside grills like you suburbanites! This is a great way to cook a healthy meal in a few minutes.

Zucchini Pasta Maker
(Tri-Blade Plastic Spiral Vegetable Slicer) $35.95

I have kind of an obsession with this machine (as you can see from my previous video of me using the machine!) It is so versatile as it comes with 3 different blades. It makes eating veggies FUN! Your kids will love it too (just be careful as the blades are super sharp)

USB Tea/Coffee Cup/ Mug Warmer with 4 Port USB Hub   $4.00
A cool stocking stuffer for the techie in your life. I kind of thought this one was cool because it’s run on your USB hub.  Or buy it for yourself and see what your colleagues say. You’ll be the techie of the day!  And tea (and coffee for that matter) have health benefits.

Fitbit Zip Wireless Activity Tracker  $59.95
I am definitely going to buy this one.  It tracks your steps and overall activity level and tells you how many calories you burn. It automatically syncs to your computer, smart phone or tablet. You can set goals and view progress … and share and compete with your friends if you want!

Wine Glass Holder   $9.75
If you love wine, but your hands get tired from holding the glass, this gift is for you. Now you can relax and let your wine glass hang from your neck.  Obviously this is a joke, but I found it kind of amusing. Might be good for a gag gift.

Nutrition Counseling Session with me

I can help your loved one meet their goal whether it be weight management, heart health, diabetes/prediabetes, sports nutrition or overall healthy eating.
